What would happen if the problems from their previous games, helped to shape their greatest game yet? This is SteamWorld Dig 2.įrom the outset, the differences between the original and Dig 2 are clear. While the desire for upgrade systems was strong, it couldn't de denied that it was a quality product once more. Their follow-up, SteamWorld Heist, saw similar success and partaking in a new genre. While the pacing is slow at first, its gameplay quirks kept me hooked every single time. The sheer amount of times I've played that title is staggering and every run I would find something new. Time will tell if Headhunter keeps up the quality the SteamWorld name is generally known for.SteamWorld Dig remains one of my favorite Nintendo 3DS eShop games to date. Until now, Image and Form was the developer of the series, but Thunderful itself is billed as the dev for Headhunter. The SteamWorld series of games are known for reinvention, going from the search action trappings of SteamWorld Dig to the 2D XCOM gameplay of SteamWorld Heist. The final shot is of that same head on four spider-like leg appendages leaping towards the other robot, suggesting that head swapping or hijacking bodies might be a mechanic in the final game. When one robot shoots the other and they go to check the body, the head is missing. The short video depicts two robots having a showdown at high noon. Billed as a third-person cooperative adventure, SteamWorld Headhunter’s premiere is light on details, but does hint at the gameplay’s direction in the trailer.
